Dear everyone:
Please stand with me as I attempt to eradicate the following words from my vocabulary and hopefully all my friends’: bitch, whore, slut, pussy, cunt, and alternately, dick and any other words that use genitalia or any other gender-specific words to assign a stereotypical and derogatory connotation to a person or their actions or decisions.
Thank you.I was talking to my friend today and he was talking about all the girls he’s been with and I told him that he was a whore, he said he was a player, and I stuck strongly to him being a whore, because that word isn’t just for women, but also for men.
I’m not saying that whore is used exclusively to oppress women (though if we’re honest, it totally is). I’m saying that it’s wrong to attack and demean someone for choosing to have sex or perform sexual acts, no matter their gender or sexuality.
It’s wrong to call someone, and by someone I mean ANYONE, who has sex a whore because IT’S JUST WRONG.
If you don’t understand that, I don’t know what to tell you.In my defense I only called him a whore (and an asshole) for cheating on his girlfriend of 4 months with two different girls.
Well, insults like asshole are acceptable and non-irritating in a non-gender-discriminatory context. My favorite insult right now is “stupid jerkface”. It’s just words that have a basis in sexual and gender stereotypes that I take issue with.
